BIG is very interested in working with entrepreneurs who not only have a great invention but can contribute time, skills, and resources to launch a product and build a great business. If the following description fits you, please
contact us:
-
You have a concept for an innovative product that’s better than the alternatives, but not so innovative that it’s hard to explain to retailers and consumers. We’re especially interested in products in hardware and infomercials. See our Areas of Interest.
- You’re interested in more than just licensing an invention—you want to own a piece of the business that helps launch your product.
- The target market is large, well-identified, and readily accessible.
- Your product is well developed: Engineered, prototyped, even sourced and costed if possible.
- The product can be competitively priced.
- You have experience in starting and building a small business and have valuable skills and resources for helping grow a venture.
- You’re a good partner—open to suggestions, willing to give up a piece of the pie in exchange for greater odds of success.
- You’re a great salesperson who can help pitch the product to investors, distributors, retailers, and even end consumers.
- You might have capital of your own that you’re willing to invest in the business.
- You have realistic expectations and a tolerance for risks.
Case Study
An experienced inventor and entrepreneur, Arra David, showed us an idea for an innovative driveway marker (www. ReboundDrivewayMarker.com). The Rebound is a spring-based driveway marker mounted on a spike so it’s easily inserted into the ground but less likely to dislodge.
After BIG conducted tests with consumers and retailers that indicated great interest in the product, we partnered with Arra to form a separate company to launch the Rebound. This involved creating an efficient bootstrap organization to handle everything from sourcing to legal, sales and marketing, and fulfillment.
In less than nine months from having first seen the product, we took our first orders and hired a VP of Sales/General Manager to run the venture. The company is on track to sell almost a half million units and to be profitable in year one, with year two innovations already in the works.
